“This is going to be difficult. Testimonials are usually short, net, to the point…but we have a lot to say, so this might be longer than typical.

We called PE "out of the blue" in late 2010 based on the recommendation of a local landscape architect. Tom Rozell returned our call, and said he "knew the name". He asked me where we used to live. When told the street, he said, "I built your pool in 1983." Talk about a small world! He had been superintendent of the pool company we had used and remembered the neighborhood, house, and pool…27 years later. Tom went on to say he left that company 3-4 years later and started PE. Most of PE's subcontractors are the same ones who built the 1983 pool…they've been with PE that long. Pool Environments and the people with whom they work have the utmost respect for the other; each is a true artisan. We were told repeatedly by these contractors that we had chosen "the best pool company in Texas". We were surprised that 2 or 3 subcontractor crews could be in our back yard on the same day, cooperate with each other, and not get in each other's way.

After first talking in October 2010, we weren't ready to act until early 2011. Tom kept in touch, but didn't push. After we spec'ed what we wanted, it took 3 design revisions to come up with exactly what was right for us and for our property. It was a convergence process and much more pleasant than past design/build experiences.

Our every request and requirement for a pool that would allow for special needs was thoughtfully considered. Tom and the design team worked within our budget constraints, and, while our job was likely on the low end compared to other PE projects, we were always treated as if we were their priority client. We were SHOCKED to find (after our pool was finished) how many projects they were working on concurrently. This was in part due to the daily contact we had with PE's construction manager, Phil.

Our job started on March 7, and we were advised it would take 6-8 weeks. To great delight, our pool was completed and filled with water in 32 days! We took a first (very quick) plunge April 25th. During this 32 day period, our back yard was also completely irrigated and re-landscaped. Each day we walked by a property in our neighborhood that had a pool project started in January…that wasn't completed until May, we felt pretty good.

The other resources recommended by PE also performed well and on budget. One $1500 deck –size-dispute between us and PE was resolved amicably at 50/50. The selection process (tile, coping, deck, diamond brite, etc.) was smooth. Tom and Phil provided guidance and showed us other pools nearby, but the decisions were ours.

The pool and spa are perfect. We maintain it ourselves, which we find easy to do. Whenever we have a question, the right person from PE will respond quickly and provide their professional assistance based on years of experience.

Now…about Nancy. She has been PE's Project Manager for over 20 years. You'll likely never meet her…she's managing 20 to 30+ pool constructions simultaneously most of spring, summer, and fall. But she always makes you feel like you're PE's only customer. All you have to remember are: (a) be available to effectively communicate with her via email and phone, and, (b) do what she says. She is in full control of all of the schedules of all PE employees and subcontractors.

We actually had fun working with PE…Tom, Phil, Nancy, and the whole gang. We sincerely hope that we never build another pool. But, if we do, we know we only have to make one phone call. That would not be unusual, because we also learned that PE has built 2, 3, or even 4 pools for the same customer.”
